The Point, Tier, and Demigod System
Jan. 12th, 2018 04:28 pmWhen players turn in a set amount of A/C each month, they are awarded points, which represent "offerings". Players are free to distribute these "offerings" among the Sitting Gods, whose powers and domains improve as they accumulate points.
Sitting Gods are ranked by Tiers; when a character first takes a throne, they are Tier 1, and have minimal powers. Their domains operate at minimum capacity. As they accumulate points, they move on to the next tiers. Their powers improve, as does the operation of their domains.
Some brief notes on the system:
- How a god's domain and powers improve are planned out by the player of that god, not by the mod(s).
- Only half of A/C points earned by a Sitting God may be distributed to that god. (For example, the god of Time may keep 5 out of 10 points for their own throne - the rest must be given to other gods.) However, this does not apply to other characters played by the same player. (If the God of Time's player also plays John Doe, John Doe's A/C points may go to Time if it's in character.)
- If the god changes, the points are reset to 0, and the level of development in that demain resets as well. The previous list of tier rewards does not carry over - the player of the new sitting god has to create his or her own list of rewards, though inspiration may be taken from previous holders of that throne.
Tiers
Tier 1: Earned by taking the throne.
Tier 2: Earned at 15 total points.
Tier 3: Earned at 45 total points.
Tier 4: Earned at 90 total points.
Tier 5: Earned at 150 total points.
Examples
Tier 1: John takes the throne for Dreams. People are able to have dreams again.
Tier 2: People have more good dreams than bad dreams.
Tier 3: Characters are now able to have occasional lucid dreams.
Tier 4: Characters can experience shared dreams once or twice a month.
Tier 5: Characters can communicate through and control dreams.
Demigods
Optionally, characters who give 15 points to a Sitting God will be given "Demigod" status, and will begin to assume some lesser powers under their patron god.
This status must be maintained with half of the monthly A/C reward (5 points) going to their patron god.
Example:
Jane gives a total of 15 points to the god of Winter. Jane becomes the demigod of Snow. However, to remain in this position, Jane must give 5 points each month to the god of Winter.

New Character:
Welcome to Vernos Bay, a city abandoned by its pantheon. Nothing here is born, nothing grows, nothing dies. People and animals are sick, and the waters are still and rancid. The sky is always a strange twilight, neither dark nor day.
People have been drawn in from other universes by an unknown power, as though something primal and ancient is blindly reaching out to the lost ones in hopes of forcing their return - or perhaps as though trying to replace them. Your character can either seize the opportunity to take the place of one of the lost gods, accept your life as a mere mortal and try to make the best of it, or strive to find a way to return home.
Dusk of the Gods is a panfandom political strategy and slice of life game dominated by player-driven plots. More than simply a game with limited play and directed action, players are encouraged to take an active role in worldbuilding and planning; the moderator's task is simply to be a final word, if needed, and to read apps, update pages, and keep trains running on time.
