Applications are Open.

The application process is pretty simple. This is intended to cut down on the time the moderator spends reviewing applications, as well as to simplify entry into the game. While applications are considered a process by which mods can determine if someone is truly invested in play, Dusk of the Gods has an overall format which requires regular activity, and has several measures in place to prevent the dreaded "character squatter".

Please fill out the provided form and submit it as a comment in the responses. As the application form is very straightforward and should require no revisions, applications will either be Accepted or Rejected.

If your application is rejected, please wait one month before applying again (as you would for a game with a normal application cycle) unless you are given other directions.

The application is really easy. You literally just have to follow instructions.

Applications are reviewed within 24-48 hours of submission. If 48 hours have passed and your application has not been reviewed, please reply to your application with a note reminding the mod to get on it.

Profile for your character: Jonny Sims is one of those "married to his job" types, if you consider marriage to be the same as your destiny probably being toyed with and directed by supernatural forces. Which, let's be honest, it might be. He is an archivist. He spends a lot of his time reading and organising a mess of an archive that deals in supernatural occurrences, given to the Institute in the form of statements from whoever experienced them. He is a somewhat prickly individual that is very dedicated to sorting out more or less anything that lands in his lap, so long as he thinks he can reasonably sort it. For example, the untimely death of his predecessor, the circumstances leading to a terrifying lady and her army of worms attacking the institute and leaving him full of holes — you get me. You poke your nose into supernatural shit, supernatural shit starts to poke you right back.

Writing Sample: here is my Inquisitor from Dragon Age, I am an intense rambler by nature and not sorry about it.

Why do you believe your character is an appropriate fit for this game? Well, in many ways he isn't? Jon isn't what you would call a "people person". The first in-person statement we hear in the podcast results in the statement giver formally complaining about Jon's conduct, he routinely gets on the nerves of his archival assistants, has shouting matches with former ghost hunting youtubers... he appreciates some of his coworkers? That's kind of it. Of course, it isn't, but from the outset and to enough people that he meets, he's more than fine for that to be what others think. However, Jon has a little heart lurking around there in his chest, and he's a determined person that cares about greater goods and what have you! He's just not going to make loads of friends along the way. He'll apply himself, if nothing else.

For why I wanted to play him — Jon is your regular rough edged porcupine of a human, and then some. To begin with, much of the podcast revolves around Jon digitising paper statements via tape recorder (because statements that contain real supernatural occurrences fry things like laptops AHEM), giving his thoughts on them afterwards. He presents himself as a hard sceptic, he believes nothing and no one, but that's more or less just denial talking. You can hear in his voice whenever he reads statements that he is dedicated, he is so invested in taking the time to absorb these statements and feel everything that was put into them when they were written. Jon doesn't have a secret heart of gold, he's just a really good person with little patience for other people! And he can be pleasant. He just has to more or less be aware of the fact that he likes you enough to be pleasant.

What would you like to do with your character in this game? Aggravate the shit out of everyone. No, he probably won't be TOO nightmareish, there is definitely scope for Jon to think "look we really need someone to sort out x, y or z and shit if no one else is doing it I WILL", so potentially! If there is anything really major that needs a god, Jon would be willing to ... basically take the position until someone more suitable turns up?

Felicity is a genius hacker who works with Team Arrow on the show 'Arrow.' She's the tech support of the team with the codename Overwatch. She is also currently dating the head of the team, Oliver Queen (codenamed Green Arrow) and tends to be the one who keeps the team together when things go south. She has a good heart and tends to talk fast, and put her foot in her mouth. Often to the entertainment of others as the mistakes can sound sexual.

She has a very unforgiving nature when it comes to people who hurt those she cares about, and she tends to take people in and treat/think of them like family very quickly and easily.

Felicity has been through everything from small-time drug lord busts to aliens, to alternate Earth doppelganger invasions.

Why do you believe your character is an appropriate fit for this game?
While this is vaguely outside Felicity's wheelhouse, she tends to downshift to new data quickly. She's up for a challenge, and she hates a mystery. She said this in canon. I feel that she'll want to do everything she can to figure out where these original gods have gone, how people are coming and going at the will of the world, and why there seems to be no escape from the actual city.

Even though she has no interest in being a god (which may change to be on the same playing field if she notices people abusing their power.), there is so much that she would end up being fascinated by and want to understand.

What would you like to do with your character in this game
Upon entering, Felicity will initially be looking to get to understand the world that she finds herself in and the technology that is there.

Once she has a stronger grasp of things, she will be looking to become a moderately productive member of society, while seeing what she can do and find through the world's technological means. She won't be planning on doing anything regarding the Gods, not even prayers or offerings. She will, however, be keeping an eye on those who have declared themselves Gods to be sure that they're not abusing their power. If she notices this, she will take measures to try and unseat them.

Why do you believe your character is an appropriate fit for this game? Noct has spent the entirety of his life knowing he'll one day be a king, and then, because this game is cruel and whoever put this system of magical rings and crystals together was an idiot, he spoilers dies to bring the sun back to his home. So! To have the chance to help people on a wide scale from a position of power (plus to be able to take on that responsibility willingly) would be an amazing experience for him. Also, the boy needs a break from all the loss and destruction and desperation.

Poe Dameron is a 32-year-old Captain (former Commander) of the Resistance and formerly a Captain of the Rapier Squadron" of the New Republic's forces. He has been shown in canon to have exceptional skill in piloting and decent skills with weapons (such as blasters). He is also bilingual and able to understand binary. Poe, in terms of personality, is known for being daring, but also for being fiercely loyal and stubborn. He is also a fierce friend and willing to see the good in others. However, some of his traits come with a drawback of being unable or unwilling to accept decisions that he does not agree with. This is especially apparent during "The Last Jedi" where he leads a mutiny against Vice Admiral Holdo after a plan for the remaining Resistance forces to escape becomes known and he deems her plans to be "cowardly" instead of courageous.

Poe also has been shown to be "snarky" or even "mouthy" to others, especially in stressful or dangerous situations, and he has used that as a method of fighting back or buying himself (or others) time to escape or prevent information from becoming known to the First Order. He is seen mouthing off to Kylo Ren when initially captured and again before being tortured. He also contacts a star destroyer later in canon and instigates a "prank call" to General Hux to buy the other forces time to escape and to begin a bombing raid against a dreadnaught of the First Order's.

By the end of the events of TDJ, Poe has been forced to learn just what makes a leader and what is bravado and what is truly brave and the best decision for all after she went against orders and that one decision set into motion a series of subsequent events that turned into most of the Resistance being wiped out.

Well, I saw Kylo Ren as a taken character and thought that CR with them would be really fun.

What would you like to do with your character in this game?

I don't have any particular ideas at this time, but I suppose he would fall into a "God of Fire" role and I also suppose he would be interested in attempting to get home (canon events have him worried about everyone he "left behind") and trying to spend some time looking into that, then eventually fall into a routine and slowly starting to care about this world and what is occurring here. He also might start to see this experience as some sort of chance to repent for his past mistakes (see "The Last Jedi" for a full list of bad decisions).

Profile for your character: Born of nothing, bound for greatness, Rey is an adaptable, rough-and-ready scavenger hailing from the desert wilderness of the "scrapyard planet" of Jakku. For as long as she can remember she's lived on her own, working amidst airship skeletons and scrounging for parts to re-sell to Unkar Plutt.

All this changed when she came across a small droid in need, a BB-8 unit carrying the map to the self-exiled Luke Skywalker. She was pulled into the war between the First Order and the Resistance, which led to awakening her dormant Force Powers.

Rey is easily one of the most stubborn and resilient people you'll meet. She's tough as nails, having developed a thick skin after over a decade of having to learn to survive. Having been both sold off by her parents and abandoned by more or less anyone she allowed herself to trust, she's slow to warm to new people but once earned, she'll stop at nothing to demonstrate her loyalty.

Due to her survivor's upbringing, she's also someone who is known to hit first, ask questions later. She is a woman of action more than she's inclined to talk things out. This makes her an unusual but refreshing candidate to carry on the Jedi legacy that Luke Skywalker leaves her with.

The best word to describe Malcolm Merlyn’s personality is duplicitous. He can be everyone's best friend in one moment and then turn around and stab his so called friend or family in the back in the next breath. He is forceful, cold and focused on his needs at the expense of his family. He doesn't care who he has to step on to bring his plans to fruition.

While Malcolm sees this as his greatest strength it is actually his biggest flaw. Because Malcolm is so willing to use his loved ones as pawns in his plans, they then turn their backs on him and refuse to believe any of his warnings or advice even though his advice most often turns out to be right. He doesn't give up, however, warning people he cares about over and over again when they are going

While Malcolm believes his anger gives him strength and focus it also has turned him into a cold seemingly soulless man who willingly killed over 600 innocent people without blinking an eye. He also turned a trained killer on his daughter and her half-brother and called it training, drugged that same daughter into becoming a murderer herself and made no apologies for any of it. He never considered himself in the wrong and seems offended when other people called him on this.

That is not to say Malcolm doesn't feel at all. Death of any kind affects him on a visceral level. He cannot speak of his son Tommy without freezing and when his hope that Oliver would win against Ra's failed, he wept for the young man who was like a second son to him. He also appears to take every cruel word said about him to heart when he is alone.

Malcolm is also very loyal to his allies. If someone asks him for help he will give it, though not without a price. He doesn't believe in getting something for nothing. He has a very skewed world view, seeing love and any other positive emotion as a weakness, when he is actually much stronger if he fights to protect rather than to use someone.

Malcolm's greatest strength is his bravery. He willingly walks into situations where he knows he will most likely die. He also isn't afraid to tell people what he thinks of a given situation. Nothing is off limits to him and he'll do what needs to be done to save his own life and the lives of the people he cares about. Another of his strengths is being able to stand back and let someone else take charge when the situation calls for it. He also is willing to make alliances with people who hate him in order to keep him safe.

Malcolm would really enjoy being a god if that is the way his CR ends up swinging. But he wouldn't enjoy it simply because of the power it would give him, but because he truly would enjoy helping people. Malcolm does well as an antihero and being the God of Time would allow him to give more them more time to spend with family and friends so they don't regret lost chances like he does. He'll also enjoy getting snarky with the rest of pantheon, something he is very good at.

I would love to see him become the God of Time and find people to connect with. I would also like him to come to an understanding of sorts with his canon mates as he becomes a god and changes right in front of them.

The Doctor is the sixth regeneration of a certain Time Lord of the same name from the esteemed and annoying planet of Gallifrey. Being a Time Lord means he's of considerable age, at least around nine hundred or so, and a considerable nose for adventure. Often bored, frequently restless and with a knack for getting into trouble, the Doctor typically bops around the universe with a companion or three to see what's going on and to help those in need if they do in fact need him.

Though he spares little expense for feelings and can often be quite abrasive to those around him, his hearts are nevertheless in the right places and he does his best when he can, trying to fight for those who can't themselves-- or at least undo the knot that whomever is being a dominating arse is using to tie people up.

In short he's an extroverted, brightly colored, pain in the collective ass of a great many people (especially authority figures) but he loves a good time and great company, exploration and adventure.

Profile for your character: Peter is a 15 year old high school student and part-time superhero from Queens, New York. He was orphaned by his parents and raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben and grew up under their care. Peter also has a small number of friends such as Ned Leeds, Liz Toomes, and (potentially, at least) Michelle Jones. He is currently a student at "Midtown School of Science and Technology" and was a member of both the marching band and the school's academic decathlon team at one point. It was during this time in high school when he is bitten by a spider and given his powers. After receiving these abilities he then begins to superhero on the side and becomes known through his neighborhood and the internet. This leads to his meeting with Tony Stark who is someone that he looks up to and idolizes. It was from his meeting that Peter gets his first taste of what being a superhero is about and becomes overly eager to prove his worth.

He is shown to be someone who is courageous, kind, and loyal yet someone who is also awkward and impulsive. He tends to trip over his words when nervous, but he Peter has also been shown to be sensitive about his lack of experience and the lack of seriousness that he is given and tries to overcompensate through trying to make himself seem tougher and stronger (which is usually seen through and then called out) usually by doing something as silly using a voice changer to make his voice sound more deep/scary while carrying himself in a different manner. He also tries to sarcastically joke with this targets and that his jokes more often misfire than work, but as he grows comfortable in his own role that the quips become more natural. He also becomes obsessed with being acknowledged for his abilities (taken seriously, at the least) and being made a member of the Avengers. It is from this eagerness that Peter makes more of a liability of himself than an asset. By making himself a liability? Peter tends to end up in life threatening situations because of his inability or inexperience in assessing his own abilities and seeing the bigger picture. He acts on what he believes his right and what must be done. He even expresses dismay and hurt at what he believes to be a lack of action on the part of those who have the ability to do something about a bad situation, despite the actual circumstances proving to be that someone had made a call to end the problem. (This is seen during the Staten Island ferry scene when Peter sneaks aboard the ship and inadvertently ruins an FBI sting operation against the dealers of overpowered weapons made of alien tech, because he grew frustrated with the "lack of action" by others.)

However, after nearly dying during the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming he emerges both a victor against Vulture and with more understanding of what both the responsibilities and the consequences a hero either is held to or faces.
